Brno = Czechia's second largest city with a unique atmosphere

Brno is well known as the capital of Czech science and technology and it is also the very same place where Gregor Johann Mendel once laid down the foundation of modern genetics. The spirit of curiosity remained in the city until today. With the population of about 400,000 inhabitants, Brno is a vibrant city where one fifth of its inhabitants are students, who study at one of the 10 universities and colleges.

Cultured and fun

The city’s heart beats with culture, both modern and classic. Brno has over 9 city theatres, two opera companies, a ballet company and countless music venues and clubs. This is also where you will find the world-famous, functionalist Tugendhat Villa (a UNESCO World Cultural Heritage Site) and 1800+ other cultural monuments. 

Full of greenery

Not only is Brno a friendly and hospitable city, with over 50 public parks and nearly 3,000 hectares of accessible woods, it’s a very green city as well. On top of that, its 24-hour public transit system to get you almost anywhere you need to go without car.

There are lots of interesting places to go just outside Brno as well. South Moravia is the warmest and most fertile region in the Czech Republic. It is an unmistakable wine region with an endless choice of trips for lovers of nature, history and cuisine.
